MONDAY - NOVEMBER 12TH

Flag Raising Ceremony, National Minute of Silence, and the National Roll Call

The 2012 Veteran and Military Student Recognition Week will begin on Monday, November 12th with a flag raising ceremony, conducted by our own Montclair State University veteran and military students.  The flag raising ceremony will begin at 1:30 pm, followed by participation in a nationwide minute of silence at 2:00 pm.

The University will also be participating in the 2012 National Roll Call.  For the Roll Call, members of the campus community will be invited to remember/honor service members, living or deceased, of any era of service, by reading their name(s) during this special ceremony.  The Roll Call ceremony will take place between 2:00 - 3:30 pm. If you wish to participate in the Roll Call, please click on the link below and complete the requested information.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Student Center Ballroom A.

TUESDAY - NOVEMBER 13TH

Care Package Assembly for Service Members Overseas

Donations for the care packages can be left in the box near the Student Veteran Resource Center (Student Center 423).  We will be assembling the care packages on Tuesday, November 13th in the Student Center - Room 418 from 12:00 - 2:00 pm.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14TH

Yoga for Veterans

Love yoga?  Always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity?  Here is your chance.  We will be offering a free yoga class for veteran and military students only.  The class will be taught by Jhon Velasco, a certified yoga instructor and a professor in the Health and Nutrition Sciences Department.  No prior yoga experience is required and all levels are welcome.  Yoga mats will be provided.

Place:    Campus Recreation Center - Multipurpose Room 2

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 15TH

Visit to Washington Elementary School

Each year we reach out the community and visit with school children.  This year, a small group of veterans will visit the first graders at Washington Elementary School in West Caldwell, NJ.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16TH

Voices of Valor Recording Session

Member of the Fall 2012 Voices of Valor class will record their song.  Look for a CD Release party in December!
