Dr. Dawn Marie Hayes, Faculty Director of MSU's International Summer Institute in Sicily, is very pleased to announce the availability of fifteen (15) $1000 scholarships for students interested in earning college credit during the summer 2013 while traveling in Sicily.* The scholarships have been made available through the generosity of the Angelo and Mary Cali Fund for Italian Studies.
Courses will run from June 17-August 8. Travel in Sicily will take place from July 3-July 25.
Selection criteria are:
- a minimum GPA of 3.0
- an interview with Dr. Hayes
- a letter of recommendation from a faculty member not involved in the program
- a $100 non-refundable application fee
- status as a full-time matriculated MSU student in good standing
*Program participants may be visiting students from other universities but visiting students are not eligible to receive this scholarship
Scholarships will be granted to the first 15 applicants who (1) meet the criteria outlined above and (2) receive approval for their completed program application. The first full program cost deposit is due to the Global Education Center by February 1. Students with completed and approved applications will be notified of their status as tentative scholarship recipients around February 15. Please note that recipients must continue to follow the program cost payment schedule (including payment of full balance by May 1, 2013) or their awards will be forfeited.

NB: This is an especially opportune time to study abroad as MSU tuition for summer 2013 credits will be lower than tuition charged for the fall and spring semesters. The program offers the opportunity to earn Gen Ed as well as elective credits.
