The undefeated Montclair State University women’s basketball team played to its 23rd straight victory with a 79-36 win over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, February 6.
Climbing to seventh in the nation on the D3Hoops.com Top25 Poll and to ninth on the USA Today/Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Poll, the Red Hawks have tied the school record for most wins, 23, which was set during the 1989-90 season.
The Red Hawks have already clinched the regular season conference title with a record of 15-0 and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NJAC Tournament which gets underway on Saturday, February 26. Montclair State will receive a first-round bye and host a semifinal contest at home on Wednesday, February 20 against an opponent yet to be determined.
