Montclair State University’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences held its Convocation ceremony on Sunday, May 19 at the University’s Sprague Field. In attendance were family, friends, and guests of many of the 1,211 candidates who are to receive baccalaureate degrees from the College.
Joyce M. Smith, Esq. ’94, chief legal officer of Prudential Trust Company, provided the keynote address and was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award by the College.
President Susan A. Cole offered words of greeting and College of Humanities and Social Sciences Dean Marietta Morrissey presided over the ceremony and provided the closing remarks. Also speaking were students Stephen Way, who delivered the senior address and Gil Balanzat, who received the outstanding Academic Achievement and Service Award.
The candidate’s degrees will be conferred at the 2013 Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 24 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
