Montclair State University’s Graduate School held its Convocation ceremony on Monday, May 20 at the University’s Sprague Field. Many of the family and friends of the 1,047 candidates slated to receive master’s or doctoral degrees from the School were in attendance.
Valerie Maholmes ’80, ’84 MA, the acting chief of the Pediatric Trauma and Critical Illness Branch of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award and delivered the keynote address.
Also speaking were President Susan A. Cole, who offered words of greeting and encouragement, and Graduate School Dean Joan C. Ficke, who presided over the ceremony and made closing remarks.
The candidate’s degrees will be conferred at the 2013 Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 24 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J.
