Dr. Gerry Costa Receives Early Childhood Special Education Award

Dr. Gerard Costa has been named this year's recipient of the Lucille Weistuch Early Childhood Special Education Award from the New Jersey Division for Early Childhood (NJDEC).  Dr. Costa is the Director of the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health and a developmental psychologist.

Each year, NJDEC presents this award to a member of the Early Childhood Special Education community in New Jersey whose body of work reaches beyond the classroom to significantly impact the lives of many.  The award is named in honor of the former president of NJDEC, Lucille Weistuch. The award will be presented at the NJDEC Annual Fall Conference, to take place on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the University Center of the campus of Kean University.

The NJDEC is an organization designed for individuals who work with or on behalf of children with special needs, birth through age eight, and their families.  NJDEC is dedicated to promoting policies and practices that support families and enhance the optimal development of children.
