Top-Ranked Field Hockey Ends Regular Season in Style

Red Hawks power past Gweynedd-Mercy College, 8-1, in season finale

Senior midfielder Jennifer Tafro collected a hat trick as the top-ranked Montclair State University field hockey team closed out its regular-season schedule with an 8-1 win over Gwynedd-Mercy College at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.

Finishing the regular season with a near-perfect 18-1 record, the Red Hawks head into the upcoming NJAC Field Hockey Championship Tournament seeded No. 1. They will host No. 4-seed Richard Stockton College in the semifinals at Sprague Field on Wednesday, November 6, at 7:00 p.m.

Ranked No. 1 in the nation in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Poll, the Red Hawks are aiming for their second straight NJAC title and a repeat trip to the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Championship Tournament.
