Furry Friends Help Students De-Stress Before Finals

Finals week is just around the corner and for students who are feeling anxious, there’s an easy way to de-stress: pet a furry friend.

Sponsored by Health Promotion and Sprague Library, Creature Comfort Pet Therapy of Morris Plains is once again bringing certified therapy pets to Montclair State to help students relieve their stress before finals. According to research, petting dogs and cats is physically and emotionally beneficial and can help:

  • Lower blood pressure
  • Decrease depression and anxiety
  • Stir fond memories
  • Speed healing
  • Decrease isolation
  • Encourage communication
  • Provide comfort

The pets will be at the Sprague Library Circulation Desk on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
