A one-of-a-kind Smithsonian Institution exhibit showcasing the impact of sports in American life has come to the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center.

The interactive exhibit, “Hometown Teams,”- part of a partnership between the Smithsonian and the New Jersey Council for the Humanities – will be on display at the Museum from Jan. 29 March 16.

Opening just days before the nation’s biggest sports spectacle, the Super Bowl, the exhibit explores why sports are an American obsession, and nowhere do we more intimately connect to sports than in our hometowns.

The Museum is also hosting a series of programs connected to Hometown Teams, including a February sports film series – Lenny Cooke (Feb. 5), Branca’s Pitch (Feb. 19), and 75-0: The Documentary (Feb. 26).

There are also sports drawing classes and a sports writing seminar for young students. The exhibit can be seen during regular public hours, Wednesday through Sunday (12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day). For more information, please call the Museum at 973-655-2378.
