Fawzia Afzal-Khan

Fawzia Afzal-Khan, professor of English and director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program, has recently been elected as the Caucus/Task Force Representative on the Governing Council of the National Women's Studies Association.

She has also just published a new article, "Feminist Mediations: the Sacred and Secular in the Work of Three Pakistani Female Singers", in the peer-refereed journal Performing Islam, vol 2 no 1, pp 67-88 (published by Intellect Books, UK, Founding Editor Kamal Salhi, Univ of Leeds).

In addition, Dr. Afzal-Khan is serving this spring as the NEH scholar for a reading and discussion series at the Briarcliff Manor (NY) Public Library, called : "Lets Talk About It: Muslim Journeys".  The series runs every first thursday evening of the month through June 2014.
