Alumni Networks Offer Ways to Connect

Recent alumni at Summer Fun Day at the Jersey Shore

Whether you graduated last year, or are getting ready to celebrate your 50th reunion, your connection to Montclair State lasts a lifetime. There are many ways for alumni to embrace their role as members of Montclair State’s alumni network of nearly 110,000 Red Hawks.

For example, the Recent Alumni Network (RAN) hosts programs and provides resources that help new graduates make the transition from students to alumni. The RAN Committee works with Alumni Relations to develop, plan, promote and deliver quality programs designed to engage recent graduates.

Networking events and social gatherings occur throughout the year, including happy hours and Summer Fun Day at the Jersey Shore. Events such as wine tastings and chocolate tastings provide alumni with fun and unique learning opportunities, as well as a chance to socialize and visit campus.

Alumni also often join current students and give back to the community through activities including the National Day of Service, where together they help out with projects in communities near campus.

In addition, alumni of all ages are invited to join the Alumni Recruitment Team, which helps to recruit the best and most talented students to Montclair State University. Team members volunteer at Open House, Accepted Student Days, college fairs and more.

Brittany Caputo ’10, a RAN committee and Alumni Recruitment Team member, welcomes the opportunity to get involved with her alma mater in different ways.

“I believe in the vision and direction of this institution,” Caputo says. “I am grateful to have the opportunity to participate alongside other alumni who feel the same. I always enjoy participating in RAN and alumni recruitment events, because it gives me the opportunity to connect with other alumni and give back to Montclair State.”

Alumni who are celebrating a reunion year can get involved by joining a reunion committee. Members of the classes of 1959 and 1964 are gearing up to celebrate their 55th and 50th reunion on May 23. In addition to the fun of reconnecting with friends, reunion committee members reach out to classmates, promote the class gift campaign and, of course, have a wonderful time at reunion.

In addition to committees and volunteer groups, there any many other ways to stay connected. MONTCLAIRconnect, the online community, is exclusive to Montclair State alumni. Search the directory, sign up for lifetime email forwarding, post your resume or search and submit class notes.
