Montclair State has partnered with Ellucian, a software and services provider for higher education, to implement Banner, which will revitalize the University's student information systems to better serve students and faculty. The implementation is part of the OneMontclair program, a campus-wide initiative to update the University's business systems, integrate and streamline processes, and improve the overall customer experience.
Banner by Ellucian will enhance productivity and efficiency of student information systems, and help the University establish a more personal relationship with students by providing them with 24/7 access to critical services, regardless of the devices they use.
Banner will offer tailored solutions that will help students apply for admission, enroll in classes, and retrieve financial data on their own schedule. Modules include:
• Luminis, which will provide students access to course catalogs and registration forms, and allow them to monitor their account balances.
• Degree Works, an online planning tool that manages and tracks academic progress.
• Mobile, which will give students the flexibility to monitor progress and stay connected on any device.
• Recruiter, a student recruitment and enrollment management software solution designed to find best-fit students, meet enrollment goals, and increase retention and graduation rates.
Ed Chapel, vice president for Information Technology at MSU, said, "Our focus is on excellence in all that we do to serve our students, including applying advances in ways that ensure that our students' experience is second to none. Mobility, real-time transactions, integration with social media and cloud-based services, as well as integration with our core learning management system, all help us achieve this goal."
Full deployment of the student services implementation is expected by July 2016.
