Asimou, Brown Earn NJAC Track Weekly Honors

Montclair, NJ (2/4/08) – Junior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) and freshman Will Brown (Glucester, NJ / Palmyra) were each honored on Monday by the New Jersey Athletic Conference as they were named Male Field Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

For Asimou, it is the fourth time this season that he has earned the honors. Asimou had another outstanding day as the Red Hawks compete at the DeSchriver Invitational at East Stroudsburg on Saturday. He posted two second-place finishes, including an NCAA provisional mark in the shot put as he threw 16.26 meets in the field of 28 competitors. The mark bettered his own personal-best this season as he climbed up further on the NCAA Provisional list.

In his last three meets, Asimou has added nearly a meter more to his throw (0.8 to be exact). He added his second second-place finish in the weight throw as he registered a throw of 15.38 meters as he was second in the field of 24 competitors.

Brown also improved his standing on the NCAA Provisional list in the 55 hurdles as he placed third at the DeSchriver Invitational.

Brown posted a time of 7.80 during the preliminaries to reach the finals and then ran a season-best 7.60 meters to place third in the event of 34 competitors. The mark surpassed Brown's previous best time of 7.65 set the week before.
