Williams Named NJAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week For Second Time

Montclair, NJ (2/11/08) Freshman guard James Williams (Englewood, NJ / Dwight Morrow) earned his third New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honor on Monday.

Williams helped the Red Hawks to a 1-1 week as he averaged 17.0 points and 4.5 rebounds whil shooting .571 from the field, .667 from three-point range and .727 at the foul line. Williams opened the week with 11 points, six rebounds an assist and two steals as the Red Hawks fell at Rutgers Newark. He then pumped in a season-best 23 points along with three rebounds and three assists as MSU downed Rowan, 82-70. Williams was 7-of-10 from the floor in the game and 7-of-9 at the charity stripe.

For the week, Williams shot 12-of-21 from the floor, 2-of-3 behind the arc and 8-of-11 at the foul line. Williams currently ranks 15th in the NJAC in scoring (12.3 ppg) and seventh in free throw shooting (.767).
