Montclair, NJ (2/22/08) – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team was tabbed as the Preseason favorite by the Skyline Conference coaches as the league unveiled their 2008 Coaches Poll. The Red Hawks, who open their season on March 1 at Hartwick College, were a unanimous selection receiving five first-place votes. Montclair went 11-7 last season, 7-2 during the inaugural Skyline campaign and advanced to the ECAC Metro Championship Game for a fifth consecutive season.

Meanwhile, the MSU baseball and softball teams were each selected No. 2 in their respective New Jersey Athletic Conference Coaches Poll.

The baseball team (24-18 in 2007), which also begins its season on March 1 at Greensboro College in North Carolina, received four first-place votes and finished second behind defending NCAA Division III champion Kean University. The MSU softball team received more first-place votes than any other team (5), however the Red Hawks were chosen to finish second to Ramapo College. Last year, MSU enjoyed its finest season in a decade as Montclair posted a 38-8 mark and captured the league's regular-season crown while also advancing to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time since 1999.
