Riddick, Asimou Win at Seton Hall Last Chance Meet

South Orange, NJ (3/2/08) – Montclair State throwers provided plenty of highlights as the Red Hawks closed out their meet schedule on Sunday at the Seton Hall University Last Chance Meet.

Montclair won both women’s weight throw and shot put events as freshman Monique Riddick ( Edison, NJ / JP Stevens) won each event. Riddick, who is headed to the NCAA Division III Championships on March 14, captured the shot put with a throw of 12.84 meters before taking top honors in the weight throw with a mark of 11.93 meters.

On the men’s side, junior Eugene Asimou ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston) added another victory in the shot put as he posted a mark of 14.98 meters. Asimou is among the athletes on the NCAA Provisional list for the national championship meet.

In the track events, sophomores Amanda Hart ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston) and Judline Tumson ( Newark, NJ / Arts) were fourth and fifth, respectively in the 60 meters with times of 7.96 and 8.12. Senior Tony Williams ( Newark, NJ / Shabazz) placed sixth in the 60 meters while Lee Tedeschi ( Bayonne, NJ / Bayonne) was fourth in the 500 meters with a time of 1:12.45.
