Shanghai Quartet returns to the Alexander Kasser Theater on Sunday,
April 6 at 3pm with an afternoon of music that features two chamber works by master
composer Johannes Brahms.
The Shanghai Quartet has earned its reputation as one of the world’s most outstanding string quartets by performing exceptional repertoire in the world’s leading music halls. Currently in residence at MSU, this premiere ensemble was formed in Shanghai 25 years ago and is known for passionate musicality, astounding technique and multicultural innovations.
pieces featured for this afternoon of Brahms are Clarinet Quintet Op.115 with
clarinetist David Singer, principal clarinetist of the Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra and Piano Quintet Op. 34 with internationally renowned pianist
