President Dr. Susan A. Cole today signed an Academic Exchange Agreement with Shinpei Kojima, president of Fukui University in central Japan. The agreement furthers academic exchange and cooperation in teaching and research between the two institutions.
Dr. Cole is accompanying New Jersey Gov. Christine Todd Whitman on her trade and investment mission to Japan, Korea and Taiwan. She is part of a 90-member delegation of corporate, educational and governmental leaders from throughout New Jersey.
Dr. Cole noted that Montclair State is vitally interested in expanding its international relationships.
"Montclair State is advancing its global education program by developing additional opportunities for faculty and student exchanges, visiting professorships, institutional research and study abroad," Dr. Cole said. "Our newest agreement with Fukui University augments the formal linkage agreements we recently signed with three Chinese universities -- Shanghai Teachers University, Nanjing University and East China Normal University. These relationships will be invaluable in furthering our global education vision for Montclair State."
