Men's Lacrosse Suffers Second Straight Loss

Madison, NJ (4/2/08) – Senior attack Bryan Klimchak (Clark, NJ / Arthur L. Johnson) scored twice and assisted on another whilej unior goalkeeper Tom Bowers (Hamburg, NJ / Pope John XXIII) made 21 saves, however the Montclair State men's lacrosse team suffered its second straight loss falling to Drew University, 13-8 on Wednesday evening.

The loss dropped MSU 6-3 overall heading into Skyline Conference play next Wednesday, April 9 against Kean University.

Following a scoreless 14 minutes to open the game, the Rangers got on the board as Robert Budiszewski scored with 39 seconds left, but Montclair countered 18 seconds later on a goal by Tyler Meixner (Hamburg, NJ / Vernon) as the game was even after the first quarter. Meixner’s second tally 1:44 into the second gave Montclair the lead and Kevin Dyer (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) extended it as he scored two minutes later. However, Drew would score the next three goals to retake the lead at 4-3. Klimchak fed A.J. Bachman (Montville, NJ / Mountain Lakes) with 4:25 left to knot the score at 4-4, but Greg Reading scored with 2:46 remaining as Drew took a one-goal advantage into halftime.

Drew would widen its lead in the third, outscoring the Red Hawks 5-1. Reading tallied his second with 10:32 left and Mike Sayers collected the first of his back-to-back goals 19 seconds later as the Rangers moved in front 8-4. Mario Passafiume (Boonton, NJ / Mountain Lakes) got a goal back for Montclair with 4:17 to go in the period, but Drew answered with a four-goal run that bridged the third and fourth quarters as the Rangers went up 12-5.

Klimchak would net his second of the game at the 4:59 mark of the fourth to get Montclair within 12-6, but Jon Bucknam registered a goal less than a minute later to all but seal the game for Drew.

John Schiavone (Montclair, NJ / Montclair) had eight faceoff wins and eight ground balls for the Red Hawks while Taylor Bonner (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) had seven ground balls.
