Scott R. Williams of Mendham, a senior business executive with extensive experience in the implementation of the supply chain management process, has been appointed by Gov. Whitman to the Montclair State University Board of Trustees, MSU President Dr. Susan A. Cole announced today. He was sworn in June 15.
Williams, director of Supply Chain Management for Public Service Electric and Gas Company of Newark since 1996, has been a leading practitioner of supply chain management, which seeks to identify cost reductions, cost avoidances and negotiated savings through procurement activities and process improvement gains. At Public Service Electric and Gas, his comprehensive program has achieved total cost savings of $100 million over the past three years. In 1999, he implemented a Strategic Cost Reduction Initiative for all major material and service commodities, with targeted cost reductions of $160 million over the next four years.
"Scott R. Williams is a leader in formulating and implementing fiscally responsible management practices in today's challenging economic climate and we are very fortunate to have him join our Board of Trustees," Dr. Cole said.
