Allentown, PA (4/20/08) – Sophomore Judline Tumson (Newark, NJ / Arts) captured the 100 meters and helped the 4x100 meter relay to victory while freshman Will Brown won both hurdles events as the Montclair State men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams placed fifth and sixth, respectively at the CTC Outdoor Championships on Sunday.
Tumson captured the 100 meters with a time of 12.65 and also placed second in the 200 meters (25.26) before helping the 400 meter relay team to victory. Tumson, Amanda Hart ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston), Farida Jawando (Colts Neck, NJ / Monmouth Regional) and Krystal Wyche ( Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) posted a time of 49.43 in winning the race.
won the 110 hurdles as he posted a pair of NCAA Provisional Qualifying
times. He ran a 14.82 during the preliminaries and then posted a 14.96
in the finals. He added his second win in the 400 hurdles registering a
time of 55.74. Brown then helped the 4x400 meter relay to fourth place
as he, Terry Iavarone ( North Arlington, NJ / North Arlington), Andrew Nnadi ( West Orange, NJ / West Orange) and Elvis Cole ( Hackensack, NJ / Northern Highlands) ran a time of 3:30.55.
Junior Eugene Asimou ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston) captured the shot put with an NCAA Provisional mark of 16.05 meters. Asimou also added a third-place showing in the hammer throw (44.88 meters) while Nandi was fifth in the long jump (6.35 meters). Mario Morrison-Bird ( West Orange, NJ / West Orange) claimed fifth in both the discus (41.12 meters) and the hammer throw (41.13 meters) while Marc Seemon ( North Plainfield, NJ / Union Catholic) was third in the shot put (14.80 meters).
James Pszwaro (Carney’s Point, NJ / Penns Grove) finished fourth in the javelin (57.32) and Coleearned the same spot in the decathlon (5,342 points).
Elsewhere on the women’s side, Jawando was second in the 800 meters (2:22.58) with Wyche posting a third-place finish in the long jump (5.10 meters). Jawando was fifth in the triple jump and Hart placed third in the 100 meters (12.83) and sixth in the 200 meters (26.51). Freshman Monique Riddick ( Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) had three Top 10 finishes as she was second in shot put (14.23 meters), fourth in the hammer throw (43.53) and sixth in the discus (37.74 meters).
Riddick, Asimou and John Tshilas ( Livingston, NJ / Livingston) will be in action this Thursday, April 24 as the three compete at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia. The entire MSU squad returns to the track on Saturday, May 3 at the 2008 NJAC Championships at Richard Stockton College.
