Montclair State (26-18) was on of 14 at-large selections for the 54-team field of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship. The appearance is the Red Hawks second in three years. In Montclair’s last trip in 2006, it captured the Boyertown Regional Championship defeating The College of New Jersey, 5-1 in the title game. The victory capped an amazing string of six consecutive victories (over four days) after the Red Hawks fell to Frostburg State in the opener.
This year's trip marks the Red Hawks’ 26th appearance overall in the NCAA Baseball Championship, and the 24th in the Division III Tournament which began in 1976. Montclair State played in the 1972 and 1975 College Division Baseball Tournament. MSU has won 14 Regional Championships and three NCAA national titles (1987, 1993 and 2000). Montclair State is 97-46 all-time in NCAA play, including a 65-22 record in regional tournament action. The Red Hawks are 30-22 in World Series games and went 2-2 in the College Division Tournament.
