Women's Soccer Tops Arcadia in OT

Haverford, PA (8/31/08) –Freshman Rachel Senyszyn (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) scored 11:29 into overtime as Montclair State topped Arcadia, 2-1 in the consolation game of the Haverford Kickoff Classic on Sunday afternoon.

Senyszyn's goal helped even Montclair State's record as the Red Hawks avenged a 3-2 loss to Arcadia in last year's Kick-off Classic.

Montclair State jumped out to a 1-0 lead 17:32 into the contest as junior forward Natalia Sisti (Lincoln Park, NJ / DePaul) scored off an assist from senior Angela Martone (Toms River, NJ / Toms River South).

MSU held on to that advantage until 35 minutes remaining in regulation when Arcadia's Katie O'Malley tied the score with an unassisted marker.

The game headed into the first overtime where neither team would come up with the winning margin. Then in the second OT, Christina DeMartinis (Kinnelon, NJ / Kinnelon) lofted a pass down the middle onto the foot of Senyszyn who tucked away at shot past keeper Jacquelyn Eckert for the game winner.

Junior goalkeeper Leah Tepperman (North Andover, MA / North Andover) stopped three shots for the Red Hawks, who held a 25-9 advantage in shots, including a 15-3 margin in the second half.

Montclair State is now off until Wednesday, September 10 when its goes back out on the road to Hackettstown, NJ to face Centenary College at 4:00 pm.
