MSU faculty member 'hero for the Planet' says Time For Kids

Dr. Jacalyn Willis, rain forest ecologist and director of the Professional Resources in Science and Mathematics program at Montclair State University, is a hero.

TIME FOR KIDS magazine has named 10 winners of the "Ford Motor Company Hometown Heroes for the Planet" competition and Willis is one of the select group. Winners, nominated by TFK readers, are featured in a supplemental Earth Day issue of the magazine, published April 6.

For one month each year, Montclair State scientist, author and teacher Willis studies mammals in a Panama rain forest as part of a Smithsonian Institution project. She shares her findings and expertise on tropical rain forests with thousands of students and teachers via the website of the Rainforest Connection.
