Williams Named NJAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Montclair, NJ (12/08/08) - Sophomore James Williams (Englewood, NJ / Dwight Morrow) was named the NJAC Player of the Week on Monday.

Williams earns NJAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors after averaging 23.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game in a 2-0 week of NJAC play for the Red Hawks.

He opened the week by tallying a season-high 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field, while adding three rebounds and two assists in MSU’s NJAC-opening 77-66 victory over NJCU. He wrapped up the week by notching 20 points, including the game-tying basket with 11 seconds remaining to force overtime in the Red Hawks’ 84-79 OT victory over TCNJ.

The 2007-08 NJAC Rookie of the Year, Williams currently ranks sixth in the NJAC in minutes played per game (31.57). He is the team leader for the Red Hawks in scoring at 12.7 points per contest.
