Riddick, Asimou Win Weekly Track Honors From NJAC

Montclair, NJ (12/8/08) – Senior Eugene Asimou (Livingston, NJ / Livingston) and sophomore Monique Riddick (Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) were named their respecitve Field Athletes of the Week as the New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its first weekly award winners for the season on Monday.

Riddick earns the first NJAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week selection after traveling to Middletown, CT to compete at the Wesleyan Invitational. The 2008 NCAA Indoor Champion in the shot put, she opened her sophomore season by placing first in a field of six competitors in the event with a NCAA provisional qualifying throw of 13.49 meters. Riddick also placed first in the hammer throw with a winning mark of 12.88 meters.

Asimou earns the first NJAC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week selection after opening his senior season by placing first in a field 11 competitors in the shot put with a NCAA provisional throw of 15.88 meters. Asimou, who won the indoor award four times a year ago,
also placed first in a field of six competitors in the weight throw with a winning toss of 15.28 meters.
