Uckar, Gordon Earn NJAC Swimming Rookie of the Week Honors

Montclair, NJ (12/15/08) – Freshman Lauren Uckar (Manlapan, NJ / Manalapan) and Daniel Gordon (Northfield, NJ / Mainland Regional) each their respective Rookie of the Week honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday.

Both were instrumental in helping MSU to a sweep of Drew University last week as the Red Hawk women posted a 101-77 victory while the men's squad defeated the Rangers, 111-57.

Uckar earns NJAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Red Hawks to the win at Drew. Individually, she placed first in the 200 freestyle with a winning time of 2:09.65. Uckar also swam the leadoff leg and helped propel the Red Hawks’ 400 medley relay to a first place finish with a winning time of 4:24.89.

Gordon earns honors after helping the Red Hawks secure the non-conference dual-meet road win at Drew. In Montclair State’s second dual-meet victory of the season, Gordon placed first in the 1650 freestyle with a winning time of 18:22.36.

The MSU Swimming and Diving teams are off until Saturday, January 17 when they return to dual meet action at Misericordia University in Pennsylvania.
