NJ Devils Win, Donation Doubles!

Honorary doctoral degree recipient Raymond G. Chambers announced during his remarks at the MSU Commencement ceremony today that he is making a $50,000 scholarship donation in honor of the class of 2001. Chambers, Chairman of the New Jersey Devils NHL team, said the donation will double to $100,000 if the Devils win the Stanley Cup.

The University will begin awarding these scholarship funds in the fall of 2002.

Other 2001 honorary doctoral recipients were Gordon Bethune, chairman of the board and chief executive office of Continental Airlines, and Emily "Cissy" Houston, Grammy Award winner. Full Release
