Track and Field's Riddick, Brown Honored by NJAC

Montclair, NJ (1/27/09) – Sophomores Monique Riddick (Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) and Will Brown (Gloucester, NJ / Palmyra) each earned weekly honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference on Monday. Brown was chosen as the Male Track Athlete of the Week while Riddick collected her second Female Field Athlete of the Week accolade.

Brown earns NJAC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week honors after traveling to New York City to compete at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany at the New York Armory. He placed fourth in a field of 44 competitors in the 55 meter hurdles with a NCAA provisional time of 7.58, just .03 off the automatic qualifying standard. Brown’s performance helped the Red Hawks secure a 24th place finish in the 29-team meet.

Riddick earns NJAC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after traveling to New York City to compete at the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University
of Albany. She placed first in a field of 26 competitors in the shot put with a NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 14.02 meters. The 2008 NCAA Division III Indoor Champion in the shot put, Riddick will now have the opportunity to defend her title via her automatic qualifying throw. Her performance helped the Red Hawks secure a 20th place finish in the 30-team meet.
