The Montclair State men finished the year at 6-7 overall, 1-3 in the NJAC while the women completed their slate at 5-8, 1-3 in the NJAC.
Sophomore Galina Loutchouk ( Richboro, PA / Council Rock) was a winner in thee 200 butterfly as she posted a time of 2:23.14. Laura Flynn ( Andover, NJ / Lenape Valley) was second as she clocked in a 2:26.54. Montclair also won the 400 freestyle relay as the team of freshman Nicole Van Avery ( North Brunswick, NJ / North Brunswick), Lauren Uckar ( Manalapan, NJ / Manalapan), Christina Crossin ( Milton, CT / Lauralton Hall) and Raquel Erwin ( Ridgewood, NJ / Ridgewood) timed in at 3:54.39.
For the Montclair State men, seniors John Adams ( Wharton, NJ / Pope John XXIII) and Jon Kurtz ( Stockholm, NJ / Vernon Township) each won a pair of individual events. Adams collected his first-place performances in the 100 backstroke (55.96) and 200 backstroke (2:05.28) while Kurtz won both breaststroke events. He had a time of 1:04.02 in the 100 and swam 2:25.25 in the 200.
Freshman Jacklyn Beck ( West Milford, NJ / West Milford) and sophomore Laura Hess ( Berlin, NJ / Eastern) helped Montclair State sweep the diving events. Back won the required portion as she registered a score of 111.75 with Hess placing third (107.93). Hess would take the optional portion of as she put up a score of 167.75. Beck was third with a score of 143.10.
The Red Hawks are now off until Friday, February 20 as they compete in the Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Championships at Rutgers University.
