Together with other singers, dancers, and musicians, the Montclair State University Singers, under the direction of Heather Buchanan, director of choral activities, performed Meredith Monk’s Ascension Variations on March 5 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. The one-night, site-specific performance transformed the spiraling galleries of the Guggenheim rotunda into a space filled with remarkable sights and sounds.
“Tapping into the wellspring of human emotions, Monk has produced an experience that is profoundly, inexplicably satisfying,” writes reviewer Robert Johnson in the March 5 edition of The Star-Ledger.
