Montclair, NJ (3/30/09) – Sophomore Monique Riddick (Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) earned the first Female Field Athlete of the Week honor for the outdoor season as the New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its first accolades on Monday.

Riddick, who two weeks ago won her second straight NCAA indoor crown, punched her ticket for this year’s outdoor championship as she set a meet record with a throw of 14.42 meters (47-feet, 3.75-inches) at the Monmouth University season-opener. Riddick, who posted a personal-best mark, easily surpassed the NCAA automatic mark of 14.20 meters and will be among the field of competitors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships which will be held at Marietta College in Ohio, May 21-23.

Riddick broke the meet record of 14.16 meters set by Rutgers’ Ash Cycerli in 2006.
