Born in Egypt and a resident of New Jersey since 1970, Mr. ElMenshawy is the founder and current Chairman of the Council of Mosques and Islamic Organizations in New Jersey, or Majlis Ash-Shura. The goal of the Majlis Ash-Shurawith, with over 30 constituent organizations, is to address issues facing the Muslim community that cross mosque or town boundaries. He is also the founder and former Executive Director of the Islamic Public Affairs Council, an organization which works with the media and within the political system to represent the interests and views of the Muslim Community in New Jersey. A graduate of Rutgers University in Electrical Engineering, Mr. ElMenshawy has been employed at IBM since 1985, in various management roles.
