The Montclarion is a Multiple Award Winner

The Montclarion wins awards in the New Jersey Better College Newspaper Contest

Montclarion staff members Bobby Melok, editor-in-chief; Kristie Cattafi, news editor; Peter Schaus, feature editor; Kulsoom Rizvi, assistant news editor; Christine Adamo, chief copy editor; and Jessica Lozak, arts and entertainment editor pose with the awards from the 2008-2009 New Jersey Better College Newspaper Contest.

Following closely on the heels of its 2008 College Press Freedom Award, The Montclarion was once again recognized at an awards luncheon for winners of the 2008-2009 New Jersey Better College Newspaper Contest held in Trenton on April 18. Sponsored by the New Jersey Collegiate Press Association, the contest recognizes the best in New Jersey college newspaper production.

For this year’s contest, 389 entries from 19 college newspapers were judged, and The Montclarion and members of its staff received the following awards:

Enterprise / Investigative Reporting:
First Place Kristie Cattafi
Third Place – Jason Serafino

Arts & Entertainment Writing:
Second Place – Peter Schaus

General Excellence:
Third Place – The Montclarion

Additionally, the entire editorial staff of The Montclarion received honorable mention in the Editorial Writing category, and Kristie Cattafi and Kulsoom Rizvi received honorable mention in the Biography / Personality Profile category.
