Pomona, NJ (4/19/09) – Freshman Allison Snochowski (Fair Lawn, NJ / Fair Lawn) captured the 3000 meter race walk while junior Monique Riddick (Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) captured her fourth straight shot put event this season as the Montclair State men’s and women’s track team took part in the 2009 CTC Championships held at Richard Stockton College.
The MSU women placed 11th in the meet while the Red Hawk men were 13th.
Snochowski won her first collegiate event as she posted a time of 18:14. Meanwhile Riddick continued her outstanding outdoor season as she put together a personal best in winning the shot put. Riddick recorded an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 14.65 meters, the best throw in Division III this season. In all four outdoor meets this season, Riddick, the NCAA indoor champion, has hit the automatic mark. Riddick also placed 12th in the discus (29.80 meters) with Leslie Dobbs (Palmyra, NJ / Palmyra) placing 14th at 21.32 meters.
Katherine Tallaj (Paramus, NJ / Immaculate Heart) had a pair of Top 10 finishes as she placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles and sixth in the 400 hurdles. She recorded a time of 16.63 in the 100 hurdles and clocked in at 1:11.57 in the 400 meter hurdles. Anna Gleason (Butler, NJ / Butler) was seventh in the 100 hurdles (16.99) and was sixth in the high jump (1.50 meters).
Jackie Philbin (Lincoln Park, NJ / Boonton) registered a ninth-place finish in the javelin (29.54 meters) and Kristen Larson (Bloomfield, NJ / Bloomfield) was 15th in the 1500 meters (5:43.85). Dobbs was 13th in javelin (23.48) and Leah McClish (Old Bridge, NJ / Old Bridge) finished 13th the 400 meters (1:07:00).
On the men’s side, junior Terry Iavarone (North Arlington, NJ / North Arlington) placed second in the 800 meters as he ran a time of 2:00.02. Terrence Daly (Barnegat, NJ / Monsignor Donovan) and Michael Johnson (Boonton, NJ / Mountain Lakes) placed ninth and 13th, respectively in the hammer throw while freshman Robert East (Passaic, NJ / Passaic) was 14th in the 100 meters clocking in at 11.75. Daly threw 35.88 meters with Johnson posting a throw of 29.56 meters. Johnson would also take 13th in the shot put (11.91 meters) and James Luginsland (Bridgewater, NJ / Bridgewater-Raritan) tossing the shot 12.33 meters to place 11th in the event. Eric Gershey (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany Hills) ran a time of 54.63 in the 400 meters to place 21st.
