Riddick, Relay Team Shine at Penn Relays

Philadelphia, PA (4/23/09) – Sophomore Monique Riddick (Edison, NJ / Bishop Ahr) equaled her personal best in the shot put to place second while the men's 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth in the CTC section as the Red Hawks took part in the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field on Thursday afternoon.

Competing in the Eastern section comprised of all Division I schools, Riddick finished second as she reached the NCAA Division III automatic qualifying mark for the fifth time in the outdoor season. Riddick matched her career best throw as she put up a mark of 14.65 meters (48-feet, 3/4-inches). The mark equaled Riddick’s previous best set four days earlier at the CTC Outdoor Championships.
Riddick, the two-time indoor champion, has the top throw in Division III this season and is one of only two athletes to reach the automatic qualifying standard.

On the men’s side, the Red Hawks finished fourth in the CTC section of the 4x400 meter relay. The team comprised of Tony Williams (Newark, NJ / Malcolm X. Shabazz), Eric Gershey (Parsippany, NJ / Parsippany Hills), Will Brown (Palmyra, NJ / Gloucester) and Terry Iavarone (North Arlington, NJ / North Arlington) recorded a time of 3:24.41.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, May 2 as they compete in the 2009 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships held at Rowan University in Glassboro.
