Montclair, NJ (7/23/09) – Senior Danielle Altersitz (Thorofare, NJ / Kingsway Regional) enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime experience as she competed for the United States at the 18th Maacabi Games in Israel. Altersitz helped the USA team to a silver medal.
Altersitz was one of 14 players selected to compete on the U.S. open women's field hockey team at the games. The United States team posted a 4-2 mark losing twice to Holland in one-goal contests, including a 1-0 setback in the final.
Altersitz has appeared in 31 games in three seasons at Montclair State. The defender played in all 18 games for the Red Hawks (11-7) last season after appearing in just two games the year before after recovering from knee surgery. She appeared in 11 games as a reserve defender in 2006.
Her team held opponents to 1.9 goals per game last season, a .508 shots on goal percentage and allowed just 10.4 shots per game.
