Cafe Diem and Sprague Library will be open all night every night beginning September 14, 2009.

In response to the growing numbers of students and their need for greater flexibility in academic support services, since September 14, 2009, Montclair State University’s Sprague Library and Café Diem is open 24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week. Together with this change, overnight computing has moved to the library from its former location in University Hall, and students now have a new central location in which to study, do their computing, or just get together for a snack any time of the day or night.

With University ID, students, faculty, and staff are able to check out laptop computers for use anywhere in the library or in Café Diem, and have access to the wireless network and to a printer. The library’s online catalog, databases, and silent study areas are all fully available and personnel are on hand around the clock. With 72 PC and eight Mac laptops available for check-out—nearly double the number of laptops previously available—access to computers is easier than ever.

For those needing a break from their studies, or just a place to go for a late snack, Café Diem has also expanded its hours to be open 24/7. The full menu including sandwiches, soups, salads, and much more is available around the clock, seven days-a-week. Additionally, Café Diem has wireless internet access so those who have checked out laptops at the library may continue their studies—or Web surfing—in the café.

Although the library no longer closes its doors and is open for study and computing 24/7, circulation/reserve, reference, and multimedia will continue to follow the regular hours of operation. Please check with the library for details of the available services.
