Montclair, NJ (9/12/09) – It was the first athletic contest to be played in the newly renovated Panzer Athletic Center, however, it did not work out for Montclair State as the Red Hawks fell to Vassar College in three sets on Saturday afternoon.
Playing back in their old home following a year off, MSU fell to 1-4 on the year the Brewers picked up the win 25-14, 25-22 and 25-14.
Freshman Chloe McGuire posted 13 kills as Vassar remained unbeaten at 4-0. The Brewers have yet to drop a set this season.
Senior Samantha Karpinski (Hackensack, NJ / Hackensack) led the way with eight kills for MSU while also adding five digs. Senior Adrianne Moe (Rutherford, NJ / Rutherford) collected six kills, three service aces and three digs with senior Kara Burnham (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) posting five kills. Freshman setter Jenna Totaro (Secaucus, NJ / Secaucus) had 21 assists and senior libero Meghan Stevens (Woodcliffe Lake, NJ / Pascack Hills) registered a match-high 15 digs.
Senior Anna Chesnakova (East Brunswick, NJ / East Brunswick) recorded three kills and four total blocks, including three solo.
Montclair State returns to action on Tuesday, September 15 as MSU opens up New Jersey Athletic Conference play on the road at Rowan University in a 7:00 pm matchup.
