Montclair State University and the Shanghai String Quartet signed a contract today that will bring the renowned group to the University in the fall as Artists-in-Residence.
"We are pleased to have the Shanghai String Quartet be a part of our campus community," said Montclair State President Susan A. Cole. "They will be a great asset to the University's Music Department, where our internationally renowned faculty provide unique musical opportunities to students. This is one more opportunity for our students to hear and learn from world-class performers. Members of surrounding communities also will have the good fortune of experiencing the wonderful level of chamber music performed by the Quartet.
"With the opening of the Alexander Kasser Theater in 2004, this is the quality of music Montclair State University will offer the community regularly," Cole added.
