Swimming and Diving Fall in Season Opener at Stevens

Hoboken, NJ (10/17/09) – The Montclair State men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened up their 2009-10 dual meet season at Stevens on Saturday. The Red Hawks fell to the Ducks on both sides as the MSU men dropped a 136-107 decision while the women were beaten 142-109.

Junior Blaise Lacca (Sewell, NJ / Washington Township) and freshman Michael Smith (Cherry Hill, NJ / Cherry Hill East) led a 1-2 Montclair State finish in the 100 freestyle. Lacca won the event with a time of 50.74 while Smith, swimming in his first collegiate contests, clocked in at 51.81.

The Red Hawks return to action on Friday, October 23 as they host NJAC rival The College of New Jersey at 6:00 pm. in the first meet at the newly renovated Panzer Pool.
