Murphy made it 3-0 with 4:18 to go before halftime as she collected her sixth of the year off an assist from DiPaolo. Meanwhile the Red Hawks defense shut down the Pioneers allowing just one shot over the first 35 minutes while mustering 11 of its own.
Hagel added her second goal 4:10 into the second period as got the hat trick at the 43:46 mark as she took a pass from Diana Colombo (Westampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) and scored her 13th of the season.
Sheehan would help the Pioneers avert the shutout as William Paterson got on the board at the 47:07 mark. Chelsea Winklespecht (Sicklerville, NJ / Washington Township) moved in along the right side and flipped the ball to Sheehan, who knocked in the pass for her eighth tally of the year.
DiPaolo would account for the final Montclair score as she too registered her eighth of the season with 1:56 to play.
Freshman goalkeepers Megan Bosland (Boonton, NJ / Boonton) and Noell Gomez (Fairfield, NJ / West Essex) combined on the victory with Gomez making the lone save as MSU outshot William Paterson 21-3. Auger made seven first-half stops before giving way to Meghan Trivett (Highlands, NJ / Middletown North), who made four in the second half.
