Italian Program Announces Essay Contest: "Why Columbus Day"

Montclair State University's Italian Program, a department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, announces an Essay writing contest on the theme "Why Columbus? The Celebration of Christopher Columbus."

The contest is sponsored by Unico National and will award two $500 scholarships.

Contestants must submit their typed, double-spaced essay of approximately 500 words in English or Italian (MLA Style preferred) and a typed Contest Application Form (available also in the Department of Spanish and Italian office) by October 31, 2002 to:

The Essay Writing Contest invites essays from all MSU undergraduate students. Scholarships will be awarded and awardees will read essays at on-campus recognition ceremony at 12:30 pm, November 18, 2002, sponsored by Unico National in collaboration with the MSU Italian program.
