Exhibit and Theater Celebrate Italian Culture

While October is recognized as the official month of celebrations of Italian culture, at Montclair State University, the festivities continue until long into November. The Department of Spanish and Italian and the Dean's Office of the College of the Humanities and Social Sciences are happy to announce the 7:30 p.m., November 4th opening of an exhibit entitled Let's Laugh! Humor in Art, featuring selected works from the International Museum of Caricature and Humor in Art in Tolentino, Italy. Humorous works by Federico Fellini and the greatest masters of caricature will be on display in Gallery One on the Montclair State University campus until November 15th. The exhibit is free of charge and open to the public from 10:00am to 8:00pm.

The laughs continue on Wednesday, November 20th, at 8:00 p.m. In the new Fox Theater on the MSU campus, an Italian-language comedy will be presented. Il caso Papaleo (The Papaleo Case), is a one-act comedy by the Italian satirist and long-time Fellini collaborator, Ennio Flaiano. First performed in Spoleto, Italy, in 1960, it will be staged for the first time in the United States by Kairos Italy Theater, directed by Laura Caparrotti. The play, hailed by critics as a pithy satire of everyday life and illusions about love, will be performed by the international artists Laura Caparrotti, Andrea Lolli, Susana Kulia, with original music by Luca Toller. The performance is free, and seating will not be assigned.
