Dr. Peter Siegel, Department of Anthropology, CHSS, has received a Research Team Short Seminar grant from the School for Advanced Research (SAR) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This grant, funded by the National Science Foundation, will support a seminar for an international, interdisciplinary team of archaeologists, lead by Dr. Siegel, to discuss and integrate the results that they have obtained from their four rounds of historical ecology/paleo-environmental research on pre-European cultures in the Caribbean. Dr. Siegel, a recipient of several NSF grants and another from the National Geographic Society, will bring together colleagues and researchers from five US universities and two archaeologists from Leiden University in the Netherlands for the seminar in summer 2010. The grant will support travel, lodging and per diem for the team of seven researchers. The SAR Santa Fe seminars are the premier venue for archaeological and anthropological studies of the Americas.
