On Saturday, December 12, twenty Montclair State University students and staff, under the auspices of the University’s Human Relations Leadership Development Association (HRLDA), a student community service organization, will deliver clothes, toys, and breakfast to residents of Isaiah House in East Orange.
Later, at lunchtime, the group will deliver gifts and lunch to Apostle’s House in Newark. Both Isaiah House and Apostle’s House are residential facilities for women and children. Montclair State has been sponsoring this holiday gift program for the residents of the Isaiah House for the past four years, and for Apostle’s House for the past two years. Some of the gifts donated for about 60 children and 20-30 mothers have included hats, gloves, scarves, socks in a decorative shoe box for children, toys, gifts for the mothers, breakfast and lunch, and a musical program.
The Montclair State staff involved includes Coordinator of Student Leadership Programs Rick Brown, Educational Opportunity Fund Associate Director Beth Diggs, and Service Learning Coordinator Amy Zavadil.
