Brigid Harrison, professor of Political Science and Law at Montclair State University has joined NJN’s political news segment, “Inside Politics,” as a regular commentator and political analyst. Harrison, who has established herself firmly within the New Jersey and regional political landscape as a commentator on the scene, will join NJN News anchor Jim Hooker every other Friday to assess the political goings-on within the state, including analyzing electoral and policy-related developments.
Already a regular contributor to print, radio, television and the Internet, Harrison has become increasingly visible for her live commentary on NJN's election night coverage. She has also provided on-air commentary to NBC, CBS, MSNBC, the New York affiliate of ABC, and NPR. She has contributed Op-Ed pieces to newspapers such as The New York Times, U.S.A. Today, The Star-Ledger, and The Trenton Times, and is regularly quoted in news media throughout the state.
In demand as a speaker and presenter, Harrison has presented throughout the region, recently chairing the panel on "Gender in U.S. and Comparative Elections" at the annual meeting of the American Political Science Association in Chicago. Also a writer, she has authored or co-authored six books, the latest of which is A More Perfect Union, which will be released in February 2010 by McGraw-Hill Publishing. She has also been published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals such as PS: Political Science and Politics and in periodicals such as New Jersey Reporter.<>Harrison has taught at Montclair State University since 1994 specializing in areas such as New Jersey politics, American government and politics, U.S. political parties and interest groups, and campaigns and elections. She is a graduate of Stockton State College (BA), Rutgers University (MA) and Temple University (PhD).
