Cabrini Hands Women's Basketball Third Straight Defeat

Radnor, PA (1/26/10) – Junior forward Kisandra Ayanbeku (Brockton, MA / Randolph) finished with 16 points and eight rebounds however five Cabrini players hit in double figures as the Cavaliers handed the Red Hawks their third straight defeat, 65-54 on Tuesday evening.

The Cavaliers led by as many as 12 points in the first half. Cabrini staked itself to a 32-20 advantage with 7:07 remaining before the intermission. However, the Red Hawks closed the opening 20 minutes on an 8-0 and trailed by just four points, 32-28, at the break.

Cabrini opened the half on a 9-4 run and led 41-32 at the 16:13 mark after Brady converted an old-fashion 3-point play.

Cabrini responded and regained a seven-point edge, 56-49, at the 5:27 mark. The Cavaliers’ defense tightened up down the stretch and kept the Red Hawks’ offense without a field goal over the final 5:05.

Sophomore Jaime Ericson (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) chipped in with 12 points for MSU. The 14 points by Cristino gave her 983 for her career as she attempts to become the 15th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points.

The Red Hawks return to action on Saturday, January 30 as they travel to Camden to face the Scarlet Raptors of Rutgers-Camden in a 1:00 pm NJAC matchup.
