Meth, Barnes Wins First Skyline Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors for 2010

Montclair, NJ (3/1/10) – Sophomore attack Tyler Meth (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) and freshman Kevin Barnes (Long Valley, NJ / West Morris Central) each earned honors from the Skyline Conference on Monday as the duo were named the Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively as the league announced its first honors of the season.

Meth, last season’s Skyline Rookie of the Year, opened the 2010 campaign in strong fashion, scoring six goals and adding an assist as the Red Hawks opened with a 20-5 win over Moravian. Meth scored three of his six goals in the second quarter when Montclair State broke the game open by scoring six unanswered goals. He finished with 11 shots, putting nine on net.

Barnes recorded his first career goal and added a pair of assists in helping the Red Hawks to the victory over Moravian. Barnes had a goal and an assist in the second quarter when Montclair turned a four-goal advantage into a 12-2 halftime lead. The rookie added a third-quarter assist.
