Women's Lacrosse Cruises in NJAC Opener at Rutgers-Camden, 17-1

Camden, NJ (3/6/10) – Senior midfielder Morgan MacPhee (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) scored five times while classmate Lauren Adams (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) added three goals as Montclair State picked up its first win of the season as the Red Hawks raced past Rutgers-Camden, 17-1 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Hawks scored the first 14 goals of the game as Maggie Fallon (Cherry Hill, NJ / Camden Catholic) opened the score with a goal 24 seconds into the contest.  MacPhee added the next two and Kayla Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) netted an unassisted goal with 22:19 to play as Montclair led 4-0.

Adams and Meghan Spitzer (Mount Olive, NJ / Mount Olive) on the next four goals following Fallon’s second as the MSU advantage grew to eight. MacPhee scored twice more midway through the period as the Red Hawks led 11-0.

Fallon and Kailee Beal (Succasunna, NJ / Roxbury) each had three ground balls to lead Montclair State while goalkeepers Tiffani Henderson (Landing, NJ / Roxbury) and Tracy Manella (Haworth, NJ / NV-Demarest) each made two saves in a half or work apiece.

Montclair State returns to action on Wednesday, March 10 as the Red Hawks play their first home game of the season against FDU-Florham beginning at 4:00 pm.
